HI! I also live in an apartment on the second floor lol and we trained Taka to go on a potty pad by the sliding glass door that leads to the balcony. he will go on that now with no problem. the way I trained him is to tell him "go potty" and point at the pad and when he went in the house somewhere the first couple times I wiped it up with a paper towel and rubbed it on the pad. he would go to it and smell it then walk away. A week and a half of that and he used the pad

I was so happy that I said "good potty" and gave him a Kix (the cereal) and he loved it!! After that, He would go pee and poop on the pad and run to me for Kix (he would actually stare at me then the kix and back and forth until i gave it to him). He still does this now lol but i dont mind giving him a Kix, its cheap and it makes him happy and most of all, I dont have to clean up messes, haha. I keep a little container of Kix on the coffee table so its easy to get to! hope this helps!! sorry for the long rant lol....the pic is the pad i'm talking about.
