Do you have a due date calculated? When she is in labor you will be able to feel her uterus contract. Put your hand on her belly. You should be able to feel it getting hard during a contraction. It will then get soft again in between contractions. When she is in hard labor the uterus will be hard a good deal of the time and she will start to push when a puppy is in the birth canal.
If she doesn't produce anything after several hours of labor call your vet. Sometimes a small litter will produce larger pups that may not come out as they should.
I'm not sure what you mean by swelling in the rear. That doesn't sound right to me. When in doubt call your vet.
Have you read up on whelping pups I hope? Make sure you know what to watch for. I hope all goes well for mom and babies. |
