They can aspirate the water and get very scared of it plus water inside the nose burns like heck. Try it yourself - it burns the inside of your nose pretty badly. Water can irritate eyes and can even start an ear infection if it gets in the ear. Tibbe hates to get water in his nose so after each and every rinse of his face I instantly rub over his nose with my thumb to get any excess water off it before he has a chance to breathe it in. I know it burns his nose since he snorts and snorts and starts rising up on his hind legs if he does get any water in his nose.
