"Standard" in my area is 6ft unless its blocking a driving view from a road then it needs to be set back 4 ft. A 6ft will help alot but you still need to be cautious. I would check with your city. In our back yards we can go 8ft. Sometimes what ppl build isn't a requirement and you can go higher. Sometimes certain things need a permit just to makesure you do it right
