Default Is it safe to have an exterminator spray in our house?

We recently acquired a population of pantry moths in our house. We tried to take care of it ourselves and sprayed stuff in our pantry, but they are still there. The pantry is a separate room in our house, so we were able to keep our dogs out and away from the pesticide.

Anyway, we have called an exterminator to come out and take care of the moths since our method didn't work. The problem is that the exterminator wants to do the whole house, not just the pantry. Has anyone else had their house sprayed, and do you know if it's safe for the dogs to be around? We've read that as long as you keep them off the treated areas until the stuff dries, it's okay. The exterminator also says that it's safe for pets. Has anyone heard otherwise?
