Just fyi...even though you saw some relief w/ the Benadryl - I highly, HIGHLY doubt this was an allergic reaction. At his age, allergies don't really happen due to his immune system development. The benadryl probably only helped bc it makes them calm and sleepy.

Did you go to a vet? If not, I'd go ASAP. With the crying - that's a pretty severe symptom and dogs don't cry unless something is truly going wrong.
