I forgot to mention on your other thread: Using the belly band will also help to stop him from marking, as the BB catches it and eventually he'll figure out that marking doesn't do anything, except outside where it's allowed.
Some dogs mark more than others, some not at all. Some females mark. Spay/neuter does not help in all dogs, whether it's done earlier or later.
It helps to figure out why he is marking. My male will mark when he feels insecure. I have 3 females also who tend to run the place, and when he feels insecure, he will mark more. I found if I give him more attention, especially in front of them, he marks less or will stop completely.
Your dog may be picking up on your feelings, and may be feeling a bit insecure himself. Maybe by marking he is saying, I like it here, this is my house, and I want the world to know it! I got my male as a 5 YO, after he had lived with 4 other families. He was very unsure of himself and it took me a very long time to earn his trust. I threw his bed in the wash one day and he thought I was packing his things to rehome him! I had to carry him around till his bed was dry and I put it back in it's place before he would settle down. Just saying, these guys can be very sensitive.
For the coat: I used Baby wipes each time I changed the pad in his Belly Band. Sometimes I would just wash the affected hair with shampoo and conditioner. I use a lot of conditioner as it helps to prevent the hair from absorbing the urine as much. I also tried wrapping part of his coat that got in the way (like they do with Show dogs). Or you can trim the coat to prevent it being soiled by the urine.
