I've seen quite a few videos where the plastic style crates shattered on impact. Most of the pet transportation tests seem to be done in Europe.
Here are videos from Germany and Italy. Allianz Insurance Company, in Germany, was one of the companies that conducted a test where a dog crate exploded on impact. I don't know if the German video is that test or a different test...as I don't speak German
