Both meat & veggies provide the needed essential amino acids & yes dogs are omnivores, so they can get some of their protein from veggies. What I have a problem w/is the ingredient splitting. If it was just plain split peas or green peas I have no problem with. If it was a dog w/compromised liver or ailing kidney function, then I would def pick the right/ appropriate food w/more veggie proteins, but a normal healthy dog will require their protein coming mainly from a meat source. Another thing w/getting protein only from veggies poses a problem for dogs bc they have a slightly acidic pH of 5-6.5, whereas humans have an alkaline pH of 7-7.5. Fruits & veggies are alkaline forming foods.
