Default Yorkie?

Hi everyone. My son recently received a yorkie as a birthday gift from his father several months back. Needless to say, it was an unexpected gift. First of all, I've never had a dog before.. so I was fairly surprise and maybe a tad bit agitated that the ex never mentioned anything of it. Well, of course my son (13years) delegated all the responsibility to me. I didn't mind at all. We named him Yogi and I just absolutely, positively, 100% fell in love with the anklebiter. He was so fun and smart. I loved that boy as my own sons. One day, he got into my cats food and that night, started having diarrhea. Next day, Yogi started throwing up so I scheduled a vet exam for him for next day. That same night, I noticed he was weak, but as never having a dog before, I just thought it was from eating cat food. Needless to say, I was at the E.R. from 2am till 7am and Yogi was put to sleep. My heart broke and even now, typing this, I get teary eyed.

When I first brought him in for his 1st visit, I didn't realize that the breeder ( my ex husband bought it so please don't judge me) sold him too soon. Yogi came to me at 7 weeks. Way too soon. The breeder also said and I quote from my ex.. (if he looks like he's dying, give him sugar water). Yogi died from hypoglycemia. I still blame myself to this day for being ignorant and not knowing anything about his breed. Maybe I could've prevent it. I had pedialyte and nutrical and gave him that but it was too late?

I notified my ex husband what happened and he in turned called the breeder who in turned said that she will replace our puppy but she doesn't have a litter atm. She then said that she has a Morkie breed soon. My ex said ok. 1 and a half month later, she text him and said the 7 week morkie is ready to be picked up. He couldn't get to it so I had to go. When I got there, ( parking lot of a store) (Really?) we met up and she showed me the NEW puppy she GOT from someone else. Apparently, she somehow did not have that litter anymore. She said that it took her awhile to search for one for me and found me this one. When I spoke with her on the phone, she said it was a morkie. When I went to pick up the puppy, she said the guy gave me a purebred Yorkie. HUH? It was cowered up in the corner of this dirty cage, hair all dirty and matted and boy did he stink. This was not what I had in mind at all but who could leave this puppy in this condition?

I scooped that puppy up and brought him home immediately. Gave him a bath and found several ticks. Ok, heres the thing. Never seen a tick before so while I was washing the Puppy (we named him Watson) one crawled out and I rinsed it away. Thought it was a spider. Eewww. Ok. Then dried him and noticed several bumps on him. Checked it out and realized, well durr... they were NOT spiders but ticks. Out comes the tweezer and flushed those icky things down the toilet.

Watson's been fed but he seems very nervous and he cowers and whimpers a lot. He has a fairly long snout, coarse dry-ish hair, and weighs 3-5 lbs. Maybe because I'm new to the Yorkie breed, but I can't tell if he is PURE bred or NOt. It doesn't matter because he's family now but we just can't decide if we were lied to (things just don't fit together from what she said) or if he really is purebred. Regardless, Watson is NEVER going back to where he came from. My son thought they dyed his hair because his hands came away black. Enclosed is his picture. Avatar is of my beloved Yogi. See the difference? What do you think? Thank you for being patient with this LONG thread.. Nikki
