Everyone has their own oppinions on this subject and it'll come down to what you feel comfortable doing with your dog.
I have always fed people food to my Yorkies (from meat to veggies to fruit to cheese to ice cream/dessert) and have never had a problem and clearly my Yorkies love it. I have never known a dog who has died from table scraps and I always think "well what did dogs eat before dog food was invented?"
