Kim, I just read about what happened to your mom. I'm sorry she has been in such pain and discomfort due to those nasty things! I live in Alabama, so I know how bad fire ants can be! One thing I use on the mounds in the dog's yard is diatomatous earth, which is non-toxic, but deadly for the ants! It takes a day or so to do the job, but it does work!
Also, milk thistle is a great detoxer for dogs and humans, with some exceptions. Dogs need it to be glycerine-based, not alcohol based, and people on certain medications ( antidepressants like cetalopram, for one example) cannot take milk thistle.
I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, I just had to research it before I gave it to Neo, and found out about the other stuff.
