He got his 1st dose of sentinel (along w/everybody else) & he's the only one having mucus-y poopies. Vet mentioned that they can have a reaction to the beef 'flavoring'. He's allergic to beef, makes him throw up or have upset tummy.

He might've had a reaction to the medication itself too, not the flavoring since there's no actual beef in there. Vet said most heartworm meds are beef flavored, so they're going to prescribe a medication that I need to give him 2 days b4 giving sentinel & 3-5 days after. Doesn't this seem like too much? I don't like this idea @ all.
They've never been on heartworm meds. I've just been testing them every 6 months & hoping they don't get bit by mosquitos...I know, cwazzie but HW is not that bad here & we don't go out from dusk til dawn. (got my info from truth4dogs years ago from YT) I don't know if I made the right decision now starting the HW meds & Turbo is so sick from it...IDK if I'll continue it, even more so w/the combination of prescribed meds (sawwie can't remember the name, clay or something? haven't picked it up yet).
I understand that dogs must be on HW meds if it's common in your area, it really is not here in southern CA in LA & we don't have a yard (condo), so they only go out when I take them out. I also recently switched to K9 Advantix II, it's supposed to repel mosquitoes (but I might not use it on them anymore bc it makes them itch & gave Mimi blackheads

). Here's a map of the cases of HW in 2010 (the most recent I could find) & where we're @, it's white, <1 case.

Please advise, what would you do if you were in my shoes? I am thinking of leaving Turbo out & have him tested every 6 months. I don't think he does well w/any kind of pesticide or vaccinations. He has to have an anti-inflammatory shot b4 any vaccines & watched closely for 30mins afterwards. Once his 1st annual boosters were done, I made the choice not to vaccinate him further. His vet never pressed me or questioned me to vaccinate him again. I would love it if he doesn't need rabies, but unfortunately it's required by law.
Please know, in no way am I encouraging people in southern CA or other places that are low cases to NOT use HW meds (or not to give vaccines)...it should be discussed w/your vet & chosen according to lifestyle (travel, time spent outdoors, etc.) & risk factors.
