After my dogs are totally housebroken they are allowed more access to the house. Of course they have to be past the chewing stage as well. I have always given them a little bit of space at a time by allowing them freedom in one room that I am sure they will be safe in and then gradually adding more rooms. Giving too much freedom all at once can cause confusion and problems. It is best just to give them a room or two that is close to the potty.
Even my outdoor trained dogs were first given the kitchen to stay in while I was at work and then eventually as I saw they were trust worthy they were given more of the house as their space. |
