I have a 19 month old that is trained for a pad but will also go outside on command. I, too started her on potty pads because of the rainy, cold and snowy weather. She still uses it most of the time unless we are outside. I started out by just taking her to the pad and giving the command "go potty" and then rewarding with praise and play. I don't give treats but many do. She does go for the most part on her own. She does still have some accidents and forgets, especially after playing, she needs to be reminded where to go potty. With consistency, they will learn to do both inside and outside. Congrats on your new puppy! |
