I know the sound that lynzy is taking about. I heard it when I was a kid walking to school. A neighborhood dog saw a good friend on the other side of the road and went running out into the road to meet her. He was hit by a car he never saw. I saw it. I heard it. I will never forget it as long as I live.
We had some people with two Basset Hounds move in down the road from us last summer. They are now allowing the dogs to roam around unattended. I have found them in my backyard on several occasions. We live outside of town down some distance from the main road. But that road is one of those that people drive very fast on. I know one of these days I am going to have to witness at least one of those dogs die in the road. I have done what I can to try to get these people to realize the danger they are subjecting their dogs to, not to mention the bother they are to me and others in the area. They bark and chase other animals.
I don't want to see the poor dogs die in the road. I don't want to hear it. I wish people like this would just not get animals. These people don't have a fenced yard. When they do try to keep the dogs from roaming free they tie them up outside and let them bark for hours at a time. Why do people get animals when they can't care for them properly? |
