Hey everybody,
I know this question must pop up a lot, but I'm hoping with some photos and info we can pin my girl's breed, and maybe even her age?
I work at an animal shelter in Australia, little Bumper was a stray with a mouth full of rotten teeth, a grade 1 heart murmer, grade 4 luxating patellas and severe cataracts that had lead to blindness. But despite all of this, she was the happiest little dog who ever deserved to live out the rest of her life in health and happiness, however would be very hard to rehome with so many medical 'issues'.. so I took her on.
She gets around fine even though she's blind, and has since had dental treatment where 13 teeth were extracted and the rest were cleaned. She has plenty of strong chompers left and eats normal dog biscuits with ease.
Her microchip said she was 6.5yrs old, however we then found out that she was once rehomed through another shelter and they may very well have estimated her age incorrectly. Given the condition of her teeth and how far along the cataracts had gone, the vets increased her age estimate to approx. 10 years. My question to you guys is - have you heard of many yorkies or silkies at only 6.5yrs with these issues? Or do you think she's more likely 10yrs old?
Now for breed I.D.. when I first met her she had a very short coat, which I thought was naturally short so thought she was a silky - however I now know it was clipped short, as in the 5 months that I've had her her coat has not stopped growing and she's beginning to look increasingly more like a YORKIE!
She weighs 3.5kgs (7 - 8lbs), has a dark grey - black saddle and sandy tan head, paws and underbelly. She has a tiny little muzzle/nose and carries her ears and tail erect.
I'm hoping I'll be able to attach some photos - I'll attach ones of her with a clipped coat and also more recent ones with her Yorkie looking long coat. The photo with the towel/brushes/hairdryer etc is today!
Hope you can help

Cheers! Bec and Bumper
