They can hang on their cage, break their leg trying to climb it, eat electric cords, eat and swallow furniture, baseboard wood, can dislocate a shoulder jumping off the couch or bed. I know of a dog who ripped his brand new blanket and wound it around his leg for hours cutting off all circulation for hours, lost the leg. Collars hang up in mouths, they climb the gates and fall off, breaking things, etc.
There are dangers when leaving a dog home alone while we work or shop or run errands. No place is all that safe really. | One time when we were at my aunts house Sammy was hot a laid over the vent that was blowing the AC and his tag on his collar got stuck in the vent and because he is bigger/stronger he pulled the whole vent cover off and it was hanging off of his collar and it made me think wow what happens if that happens to a tiny dog when no one is home. Luckily my parents vents aren't that kinda but they are like that at my house but Callie is never left alone. I also now know that smallest thing that happens to a dog can give them anxiety that can take months to get ride of even if the problem is fixed.
