I found this out from my vet years ago because my ferrets kept getting nasty flea infestations. He said that the eggs were probably coming in on my shoes. You see, my landlords had cats that stayed outside and they were likely the "hosts" but as I walked from my car and up the path to my house, those eggs were likely sticking to my shoes.

This is exactly what I was thinking might be the problem. So I tell everyone that walks inside to take their shoes off at the door. Not that it would rid the fleas but Miki does not go into the living room area that much.
