I would also like to point out that if there are any fleas in your area, you can bring in flea eggs on your shoes...those hatch..then you have fleas.

I found this out from my vet years ago because my ferrets kept getting nasty flea infestations. He said that the eggs were probably coming in on my shoes. You see, my landlords had cats that stayed outside and they were likely the "hosts" but as I walked from my car and up the path to my house, those eggs were likely sticking to my shoes.
