I buy it in a 15 Oz tub for $7 with free amazon prime shipping. I usually split that tub into a couple of jars. One for my hair, one for cooking, and one for tashi's hair. The jar I use for tashi's hair is a repurposed caper jar, which holds about as much as 1 or 2 "travel size" shampoo bottles. I don't have to refill it too often.

The one I buy is here, but the ones at the health food store should be just fine.

Thanks! I'll see what others say too but I'm definitely intrigued and can see how it could work.
