Cataract Omg! I feel so bad for you and your baby and pray she will heal well and see again soon. I hate to say this but I have never heard of the cataract eye looking swollen and sore, nor of the facial hair being shaved. My boy had this surgery and he was not shaved and his eye looked fairly normal afterwards. The one part I will agree with you on is the demanding and lengthy aftercare. It was brutal and a full time job for several weeks. The constant medicating and wearing the cone 24/7 was so hard on my dog. Hang in there, good aftercare will make for a perfect recovery. For the meds we made a chart on squared paper with med names, times required and dates, and marked them off when each med was applied. Otherwise it was impossible to keep track. I and others found that the dogs became scared of the eye meds and ran away when we approached. The good news is that the hair will grow back and the swelling will be reduced with time and meds. I am sure all will be well as the follow up visits are many after surgery and the eye vet will ensure healing is progressing according to plan. I am sure others who have been through this will post with support and comments. Praying for you and your baby girl and hope she is feeling and looking better very soon. |
