Default Purina Ingredients Issue

Guys I got a news from Italian page that Purina uses Dead body of dogs for its kibbles and also they support the experimentation of dogs. Is it true?

This is what I quote from their page:

The President of the American Association for the official control of food intake has admitted that it is common practice that the bodies of dead pet animals from euthanasia are used as components of dry food under the names "flesh and bones."

These are used to supply Purina dog's 'ingredient - "flesh and blood"; including Purina Dog Chow, Alpo dry dog food, Purina Beneful, Purina Active Senior, Purina Fit & Trim, Purina Little Bites, Purina Healthy Morsels. Besides, they are also inside the following products for Purina cat food containing the ingredient "meat and bones" Purina Cat Chow, Friskies dry cat food.

Beyond the horror of such a practice, phenobarbital, used to kill the animals, remains in significant quantities in the flesh of animals. In addition, the corpses of dogs killed in shelters are sent to factories and thrown into machines that shred them wearing collars against fleas and identification plate, which then are used to compose the kibbles.

It's clear that the Purina is able to contain the cost of its products by using very low quality ingredients , but using animals from shelters is unjustifiable and unacceptable as there are also the health problems that might be caused.

(And now we understand why, in America, killing animals in shelters can't be stopped , despite the protests of the people) ...

In addition, the Purina supports vivisection producing food, specially designed for laboratory animals: LabDiet.

Indeed, the web pages of LabDiet, recommend the various breeds that are better suited to animal testing.

According to them, the Beagles would be compatible with the long-term experimentation, because "they adapt well to life in a cage." Greyhounds says Purina, are "a common choice for surgical experimentation."

Eventually, the company asserts that the dogs are very popular for experimental animal, thanks "to their temperament and loyalty to their guardians."

These are the statements of a company that supports dog experimentation no matter pet animals are their passion.

How can the Purina claim to be "passionately committed to giving pets a better life," while it's simultaneously supporting vivisection?

I hope to get clarification as I want to know your opinions...
