I've been following your thread but haven't posted... I am so sorry for what ya'll are having to go through. Even once he has some rehab, they will probably still need help if he decides to discharge home. Please consider contacting your local Area Agency on Aging about putting your father on the referral list for the Elderly and Disabled Home and Community Based Services Waiver. From the earlier posts, it looks like you live in Tennessee so I've included links to information about the program and how to contact them. I work for a similar program in Mississippi and the goal of our programs is to help consumers remain in the home and community as an alternative to long term nursing home placement.
