If you do use a playpen you don't really have to use the crate. A comfy bed might not take up as much room. Some people put the crate on the outside of the pen and just attach the door to the pen so the pup has more room. They sell some good potty pad frames that lock down the pad pretty well. Some of them are not secure so make sure you get the kind of frame that locks down over the pad and holds it tightly. Even then some pups decide to try to rip of the pad. If that is the case you will have to spend some time training your pup not to do that. That is one thing Gracie never did so I was glad of that. But she was always pretty active doing other things. I guess if your pup is always on the leash on the balcony then you can control any climbing issues. |
