Congratulations on your impending new baby. You will have lots of interesting experiences awaiting you. If you want your pup to learn to go potty inside and outside then teaching him to also go on the patio may be a good idea. Placing netting does not sound good to me though. These are climbing little machines. Netting would be perfect for getting his little nails into and pulling himself up with. I would never let him loose on a balcony. Puppies sleep when they are tired. There is no way to predict when they will nap. They just go to sleep. Growing takes a lot out of a baby so expect several naps a day at first. It's not a good idea to withhold water from a young pup. Putting a potty pad in a secure frame and having it near by at all times is your best bet when he is little. The picture of the play pen set up someone posted is a good way to have your pup's bedroom. When you can't watch him he will be safe and secure with a potty near by. Gracie learned to use potty pads first and when she was 6 months old I started taking her for walks. She learned to potty outside pretty quickly and we still have potty pads for when the weather is bad or for when I am not going to be home for a few hours. |
