I do not see you as someone that was being underhanded at all. You contacted the breeder just as anyone else would have done to inquire about it. I'm sorry that you've been put on the spot and that people are trying to make you look bad.
And with the last paragraph that I quoted, I have nothing but respect and admiration for you. This speaks volumes about the kind of person that you are.
