When we moved into our current house (over25 years ago), the previous owners had cats they didn't clean up after and the carpet upstairs stunk. The downstairs is all hardwood except for one room we put in wall to wall carpet. Anyway...We tore up all the upstairs carpets and padding and had to paint the underlying tile flooring with
Kilz. It made a huge difference. We retiled some of the rooms, added wall to wall carpet in the guest room and hallway and have never had a pet pee up there since. It's a great product. If you can get your landlord to replace carpet and padding, you might purchase the
Kilz yourself and lay it down then you know it's done right. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your landlord!!
