My bed is high too. I bought steps for Brandi to get up and down but she is stubborn and every now and then she will jump off the bed. For me it was so hard to keep her out of the bed. She spent one night with me and that was it.
If you don't want your baby in bed with you then don't start ever because all it took was one time for my little bugger to weazel her way into my bed

If you do decide to let her sleep in your bed, be sure to trained her to use the steps at all times. It's always a good idea to use steps anyway even with sofa's.

In my house every sofa except the one in the living room (too high for her to jump up) has a set of steps that she uses (most of the time )
