I hear ya! But they are on their way already. I want both to be safe.
OP I breed large breed dogs, and we never have less than two "helpers" and sometimes three, depending upon the dogs involved.
First is safety for your female and male.
Level the heights but not with a towel, something firm and non slip. You can direct the males' thrust, and the other person holds the female's head still and body in place. And btw Flagging as I very well know doesn't mean that particular female wants to breed with any Tom Dick or Harry.
If they tie. DO NOT LEAVE ALONE!. Re-assure and keep both male and female still ie not travelling away from each other, as you might know the female releases the Male from the tie. Just be patient, that release can take 10 or more minutes.
Let the female relax after the tie, and that usually means removing the male from the scene.
