Go get something from any vet - you don't have to be a patient. You also need to get something to kill the fleas - this is where tapeworms come from. One pill from the vet and the tapeworms will come out in the poop. If you don't find a way to get rid of the fleas, though, they will come back.

I had an ongoing battle with a dog I had back 20 years ago. This was before all the good flea meds that we have now worked so well. I gave flea meds, dipped at the vet monthly, and STILL had to get her treated for tapeworms about 3 times a year. ugh
