I for one don't think you are a bad mom but rather a very concerned mom! You are doing what you feel is right for the both of you. During the time he was out, something had to have traumatized him and he is reacting the only way he knows how. For the protection of your babies and Gracie, giving him time to settle down at your mom's sounds like the perfect solution. I know you are missing him terribly.
