Excuse me??? I don't know who's smaller yorkie you have been looking at but I have a little almost 3lb girl who is as square and compact as she could be. Which btw is yorkie standard. When wet there are no bones showing she is a very healthy little girl. She was not bought for her size, was suppose to be in the 5 to 6lb range. Her mom was 6lbs dad 5. So not sure where you get your information from. I got yorkies because I absolutely love everything about the breed. Looks, size, temperment. To change them by breeding for tinies or for large is to me just not a good thing.
