Standard just says not to exceed 7 pounds so a 3 pound Yorkies as far as weight goes is standard but two standard 5 pounds dog could make a pup that grows to 12 pounds and that is what it is but the 3 pound dog and 12 dog should not be breed the 12 pound dog because she is to big the 3 pound dog because no female under 5 pounds should be breed. But these dogs could also be off standard for others reasons like color. Reputable breeders don't normally give breeding rights to just any one and a good breeder is the only breeder you would want to get a dog your going to breed from because they will know the lines of there dogs but a reputable breeder who breeds to better the breed would never give those rights to a person who had one of her pups that she was expecting to be to small or to big. See people not following these rules and just putting two pure breed dogs together not caring about anything else is why we have so many dogs with no homes and so many dogs dogs that don't even look like the breed they are supposed to be let alone have massive health problems.
