I think what is happening is you are confusing "standard". Breeding should be done to better the breed, and that includes size. Yes many have larger or smaller than standard yorkies. But a good breeder will try to stay within standard so that we can always have beloved yorkies as they are now and not have them evolve into something that looks nothing like yorkies in the future. There really is not a difference in what you are calling show and pet standards. I understand why you want her line to continue but there are ways of doing so without risking your little ones life. I am sure the breeders have others from her lines they are still breeding which would be one way. (purchasing another puppy from those same lines). God bless and welcome to YT.
