I have always had males neutered for a couple of reasons. One is for the dog's sake. A male dog can smell a female in heat from miles away. If he is not to be used for breeding why put him through the constant frustration? Also many males feel the need to mark their territory when they are not neutered. While this is a mild annoyance to us the dog is doing it because of the fact that he is feeling territorial. Some dogs are better about it than others but as I said before: why put the dog through it if he is not going to be used for breeding? I just think it is good to let the hormonal thing go by the way and let the guy live a carefree life. |
