I use NM all the time. The smell will get worse. Way worse. Open the windows. After a few days it will be gone. When I first started using it I too thought I was doing something wrong so I looked at there FAQ on there website and saw it was normal.

Edit to say the enzymes are breaking down the Pee to make the smell to get worse
