No, it wasn't a horrible experience. I really believe in the product and wanted to make it work but it just didn't. Teddy would flip out every time he walked over to the water bowl. He did not like the apple green color and when he tasted the water, he would shake his head and splash the water all over. It wasn't fair to keep trying after several weeks of this. It has a flavor, and he did not like it. The other dogs also were not into it, but they accepted it more readily.
The Leba III I bought on Amazon. It does not have the same clinical backing as Healthy Mouth or the VOHC seal but I had read here that many people liked it. It's basically alcohol with some herbs mixed in. The flavor is mild and they accept it better than the HM.
I think you should still try it -- the company offers a money back guarantee if your dog won't accept it.
