The first couple months of my pup's life - he was so oily that I used a dishwashing detergent (Joy) to wash his body to try and cut down the oil.
But I used a dog tearless shampoo on his face and head.

His hair is not oily anymore - so I just use the dog shampoo. He also needs to be bathed much less often now. I just buy a tearless dog shampoo (can't even tell you the brand) and it works just fine. If he had any special problems, dry skin, etc., I'd have to be more careful about which shampoo I use - but he's just fine....and doesn't appear to need anything special.

My way of doing most things is to just go with whatever is the easiest at first - then if you have problems - you have to do something different.

Good luck!
