Default Someone one told me the silky terrier was the original yorkie

The original Yorkshire terrier was a much larger dog than what is currently recognized as the "breed standard" of around seven pounds. The Silky is actually a mix of Australian Terrier (which, in and of itself, was probably a mix of Cairn terrier and something else), and "pure" Yorkshire terrier. Of course, they all probably have the same heritage if you were to follow them back to their origins. Many people have remarked that our Graysee looks much more like a Silky than a Yorkie, due to her size, shape of head, length of snout, "silkiness" of her hair, etc. It really doesn't matter to us, as we love her, and never intended to breed and/or show her. And she REFUSES to keep a topknot; she will grind her head into the floor attempting to lose the rubber band or bow. We just gave up on that idea!
