Ah Pippen is so adorable, what a precious face. You're lucky he has a silky coat, while I love the looks of the cotton coat, it's so much harder to care for and you do get tangles and mats. Regarding your question about Silky's many people get confused, but the Silky breed is a seperate breed from a Yorkie, I wished they'd picked a different name because they look so much like a bigger yorkie that some people think they are a yorkie.

Developed at the end of the 1800's in Australia, the Silky Terrier was created when a number of Yorkshire Terriers from England were brought into parts of Australia and bred to Australian Terrier bitches in an attempt to improve coat color in the blue and tan Australian Terrier. The resulting litters produced individuals shown as these three different breeds. The Silkys were then bred together until a recognized type was fixed. Silky Terrier Page
I use to cut Joey's bangs, but I grew out the topknot, I like it both ways, but if you cut the bangs, you have to be aware of it and for some cut them weekly so that they don't poke them in the eyes, which can cause an eye ulceration. Been there, done that.
