I keep my boys' ears clean by
1) combing ear hair daily with a flea comb that has teeth set really closely together. The flea comb also removes loose hair and keeps it from clogging the ear canal.
2) Using pads for the ear flap and visible areas whenever they look dirty
3) Using a liquid cleanser like All Systems Ear so Fresh or Vet Solutions Ear Cleaner. Anything that has a drying agent in it to dry moisture and remove dirt and wax. I use this after baths.
Have a vet check Amy's ears if she has any skin redness, black or dark brown gunk in her ear, head shaking with the scratching, or pungent odor.
