ultimately it is up to you. you can give a soft diet and brush thier teeth.
you can buy those dental toys so they scrub thier teeth while playing.
my second yorkie lived 18 years on a home cooked diet. and i brushed his teeth.
the carnivore, omnivore thing will be argued forever..
cats are suppose to be dedicated carnivores. dogs are opportunists lol
they will eat anything. personally i believe dogs are carnivores, but not dedicated. others believe they are omnivores.
