I'm in the phone haters club.

I still feel a lot of peer pressure from people who love the phone.
Luckily, our breeder preferred email and meeting in person. I filled out an online application first. Too bad she isn't breeding at this time.
I wouldn't email the breeders and say off the top, "I can't use the telephone." Instead, write a little bio and email it to the breeders with a request to meet in person (you want to inspect their home, where they breed anyway).
Breeders may be reluctant to put anything in writing about their breeding program -- and those are the ones you want to steer clear of anyway.
Some of the info our breeder asked in the application that you should include in your little bio:
1. Your age range and basic living arrangements: do live in a house or apt? do you share it with other people and what is their relationship to you? Do you have children?
2. Have you had a pet before? What kind? What happened to the pet?
3. Do you have any experience with Yorkies?
4. What size Yorkie are you hoping for?
Those are the questions I remember.
