I’m concerned because I don’t believe a reputable rescue works this way. The OP says,
Quote:
"At any given time we have 25-30 puppies in our care. It's my job to get them healthy again, socialize them, and find them forever homes. some parts of the job are just awful (poo patrol being one of them), especially when one of my little guys gets sick, but it's worth it knowing they avoided a needle.”

That’s way too many puppies for one person to handle, especially someone who hasn’t been trained. Yes, she says some go with volunteers until they can be placed, but how about the others? While rescues do sometimes spend the day at our local Pet Smart, they are in charge of adoptions, and they don’t leave the puppies overnight unattended, in fact, I’ve never seen a puppy, its adult dogs that need help with placement. The OP doesn’t say how young these dogs are, but it concerns me that they are left alone overnight. What rescue would do this? Are people donating money to this rescue and then they give up all responsibilities to a pet store? I’m not blaming the OP for the situation, it’s not her store, but I wonder if she’s being fed a line of bull by management, and management is buying puppies from local puppy mills, who claim to be rescues? Even if the whole thing is true, I would say, that other things need to be addressed, such as does the town have enough low cost spay and neuter clinics? Finally, what rescue would allow these dogs to be placed without being spayed and neutered; this most certainly needs to be done. This thread address so much more than one Yorkie with hypoglycemia.
