I am so torn on this subject. Collars and tags have saved many YT members' dogs and made sure that they were returned home quickly when they got out of the house and yard.
Tags with name and phone number helped my previous dogs the same way.
With my Yorkie boys, I have never put collars because I'm afraid my guys would hurt themselves with the collar. There is the option of breakaway collars, like for cats, but if my boys got out of the house, they would probably break the collars off on something right away.
Our tags can be attached to the D-ring on harnesses, which my boys wear for walking.
