I think we did a similar poll last year sometime and I was very surprised at how few people do structured training with their yorkies.
I think there is this perception that because they are so small that they don't need it. I feel very strongly that it is imperative for the benefit of the dog and his/her safety and well being to make sure they have formalized training.
Besides that it is so fun and builds a much stronger bond between human and dog which is such a great side benefit for all.
I grew up obedience training shepherds and poodles and my dogs are all service dogs so their training is on going for their entire lives. They love to learn!! |
