 Spay and Neuter
There is an excellent article in the Feb 2013 issue of "The Whole Dog Journal" about the pros and cons of this procedure. It states that pediatric procedures were originally carried out mainly for population control, but points out that there are also cons to doing this. I.E. it is not all good. It seems there is some discussion in the Vet world about early fixing, especially in very young dogs.
It is a complex issue and there are differing views stated. I got the impression that there are disadvantages to spay/neuter before the dogs are fully matured.
Please do not kill the messenger, I just write here as I had never seen any article questioning the procedure - only the advantages. |
