My first yorkie had mammory cancer, I moved away and had to leave her behind with a family member for a year, I wasn't told she had developed a lump until she actually chewed herself open! Only then did they informed me of the problem and I took her straight to the vets who operated and removed the tumour. They said there was a chance it would spread in the future, which it did but they operated again and removed as much as they could but she was old at 12 and didn't react to well to the anasetic, so they closed her up before they could finish but she went on to live a further 3 or 4 years. She died at 15 years old.
