I free feed Maggie and Bogey and I worry about the same thing happening. We've had some mice get in over the years in the fall but I haven't seen or heard anything in a long time. I used to hear scratching inside the wall, ewwww. They totally gross me out!!! In the fall we set traps with peanut butter (hidden from pets) on them just in case.
